Hobart Bus Mall - Concept Design

Upgrading the Elizabeth Street Bus Interchange was approved by Council in 2015 as part the Inner City Action Plan and funding was allocated as part of the 10 year Capital Works Program.

A consultation regarding an upgrade to the Elizabeth street bus mall began with the community in September 2018.

A report on this consultation was submitted to the City Infrastructure Committee in November 2018 and was later submitted to Council on 3 December 2018.

The Council endorsed the proposed upgrades to the GPO side of the Elizabeth street bus mall.

Construction works began in July 2019 and are expected to continue until the end of the year.

Concept designs have begun in conjunction with Metro and the Department of State Growth for works on the opposite side of the street, where the Hotel is currently being built.

A consultation with the public will begin later in 2019.
