Draft Hobart Civic Masterplan Background
The City of Hobart, through a consultant team led by Leigh Woolley Architect + Urban Designer prepared a Draft Hobart Civic Square Master Plan.
The Draft Master Plan, informed by community and stakeholder engagement undertaken in September 2015, considered the future development of the site known as 'Civic Square', being the urban block between Davey, Elizabeth, Morrison and Argyle Streets, adjacent to Mawson Place.
The Draft Master Plan was developed by considering the history and location of the site, together with understanding the relationship of current and potential users to the civic space.
Urban design principles, underpinned by the spatial history were developed to inform objectives for the site and its future use. These objectives were used to generate a proposed direction for the site contained within the Master Plan.
