The City is currently reporting back on the outcome of the community submissions and developing a community engagement report.
About this project
The City of Hobart is seeking community feedback and submissions for consideration in the development of its 2025-26 Budget. Community input will help inform the budget by:
- ensuring a diverse range of ideas are considered
- resources are allocated in a way that benefits a broad cross-section of the Hobart community.
All community groups, businesses and individuals are welcome to complete our survey and make a submission to the City of Hobart 2025-26 Budget community consultation process.

How is the budget spent?
The budget strikes a balance between:
- addressing financial challenges
- prioritising existing services and infrastructure
- delivering a range of projects that will position the City of Hobart as a thriving place to live, work, visit and invest.
The budget snapshot 2024-25 provides a summary of last year’s budget and the types of services and projects the City funded.

How we engaged
We wanted to hear from you to help ensure the 2025-26 Budget considered the needs of the community. Here are three easy ways community members could share their feedback and ideas:
- Your Say Survey (6 November – 15 December 2024)
- Online or written submissions (1 November - 15 December)
- Pop-up at Elizabeth Street Mall (22 November 2024)
What's next?
All submissions and feedback will be assessed against the City of Hobart's strategic priorities and considered in the context of the overall budget. While every submission will be considered, it may not be possible for all submissions to be included in the final 2024-25 Budget. This could be due to a number of factors, including:
- inconsistency with the City’s priorities
- the submission is outside the scope of services provided by the City
- further work is required to develop the submission for it to be ready for consideration
- further analysis on the proposed costs may be required
- the proposal is beyond the financial capacity of the City.
Any submissions not included in the 2025-26 Budget may be considered in future budgets.
