Thank you to everyone who has contributed to our engagement process on the Draft Community Inclusion and Equity Framework. Your feedback was used to inform the final version of the framework which was adopted by Council at it's meeting held on 10 May 2021. Details of the feedback can be viewed in the Community, Culture and Events Committee agenda. The final version of the framework is now available on the City of Hobart website.

Project Background

In 2020, the City of Hobart commenced a project to replace the Social Inclusion Strategy 2014-19 to provide a guiding document to support the City's work in creating a city for all. Extensive community sector and stakeholder engagement was undertaken to develop the draft Hobart: A City for All - Community Inclusion and Equity Framework. The Framework sits alongside the Social Inclusion Policy that was adopted to Council in September 2020. Together, these documents work to support the City of Hobart in addressing the systemic causes of exclusion and discrimination.

The key priority areas identified in the Framework are:

  • Truth and Reconciliation
  • Inclusion and Access
  • Wellbeing and Knowledge
  • Safety and Resilience

Actions in these priority areas will be undertaken through the development of a suite of community commitments. These commitments will include actions and responses to specific community areas.

The City is now seeking community feedback on the draft Community Inclusion and Equity Framework. Feedback gathered during this engagement period will be presented to Council with the final version of the Framework.
