BUSINESS SURVEY | ELIZABETH STREET PLAN

    Dear Business Owner/Manager

We are asking for your help!

We would like to better understand how businesses feel about Elizabeth Street and work together to identify ways to improve the experience for both businesses and visitors to the street.

    Business Community Engagement.

As a business owner, manager and/or property owner you are invited to take part in this survey.

We have enlisted the help of Associate Professor Louise Grimmer from the University of Tasmania (UTAS profile) to add her extensive research experience in retail and business to the project.

A/Prof. Grimmer has helped prepare the questions in the survey and will use her expertise to analyse your feedback, insights and ideas.

This work will help us better understand the business environment in the Central City and North Hobart through focusing on a specific sample of businesses, in this instance those located along Elizabeth Street (from the wharf through to Federal Street).

Your participation in this study is voluntary and your responses will be anonymous.

Take part, and you could win!

Your participation in the survey is voluntary but we’re hoping this incentive helps encourage you!

All participants have the chance to win one of four 2-week advertising packages on the digital carpark screens at Argyle Car park during the Christmas season.

    Eligibility

    • Participants must be over 18 years of age
    • Own/run a business or organisation
    • Be located on Elizabeth Street (within the geographical parameters set for the survey).

    The Survey

    • You will be asked to complete an online survey.
    • The survey will take approximately 10 minutes.
    • You will be asked about general information about your business and perceptions of the trading area in which you operate and;
    • Suggestions for improving the physical location in which your business operates.

All your responses will be completely anonymous.

What will the City of Hobart use the findings for?

The findings from the business community engagement will provide valuable insights into the business and physical environment along Elizabeth Street.

The anonymous data from this engagement will be published via Council reporting, UTAS research and in the media. Again, all data will be reported anonymously.

If you wish to be notified about the results of this study, or if you have any queries, concerns or issues with this study, please feel free to contact the City of Hobart Community Engagement team on engagement@hobartcity.com.au

Thank you for taking the time to complete this survey to inform the City of Hobart’s City Economy Strategy 2023-2028. Based on research and consultation, we’ve drafted a Strategy Discussion Paper, and we’d like to gather feedback to ensure it is accurate and helpful.

Some questions relate to specific pages in the Strategy Discussion Paper, and you will need to have the document open to answer.

The survey should take about 20 minutes to complete. We recognise this is not a trivial amount of time, but the development of a City Economy Strategy will help us to promote Hobart for the benefit of those who work, live, and spend time here. So, it is important that we get it right.

We greatly appreciate your ideas and input. If you have any questions about the survey or need assistance in completing it, please contact business@hobartcity.com.au.

    These are:

    • Simple Cider (189 Elizabeth Street)
