Glebe and Domain Community Conversation

Thank you to those who came along to the Glebe and Queens Domain Community Conversation in February 2020. We were excited about attendance and participation on the night and we were really grateful to hear your feedback.

We conducted a post community workshop survey and what we have heard is that:

  • you want greater opportunities for true engagement and influence
  • you want feedback to be representative of the broader community
  • you want greater opportunity to raise topics of relevance to you
  • you want more time for public question time
  • there is community disappointment regarding the engagement and implementation of key projects in the Domain area

We have now responded to all the questions we received on the night along with replying to all the Q&As. Some people with very specific questions have been contacted directly. Importantly, this is not the end. If you have a question you would like to raise we are happy to keep the Q&A open for ongoing communication. If you feel your question has not been answered or you do not want to leave a question online please contact us directly.

We ask that you continue to check the Your Say Hobart website for your chance to get involved in projects that are relevant to you.

This page is specifically for the people who live, work and play within the Glebe and Domain regions of Hobart.

Your Community Conversation will be held on:

Date: Wednesday, 26 February 2020, 6 - 7:30 pm

Venue: Philip Smith Centre, 2 Edward Street, Glebe

Ask a question: If you have a particular question you would like to ask about your region please head to the Q & A section on this page. Questions can be left before and after the event. You also don't need to attend the event to ask a question. We will post responses to the questions on this site, so please stay engaged and check in regularly to see your response.

What happens on the night?

Key presentations

The first part of the conversation will allow us to inform you about some key projects happening in the area including:

  • Doone Kennedy Hobart Aquatic Centre redevelopment project update
  • Rose Garden Bridge project update
  • Introduction to the Central Hobart Precincts Plan
  • Hazard reduction and bush fire preparedness

One-on-one conversations

The second part of the conversation will be an informal session where you can speak directly with officers from different parts of council, find out about other projects happening in your area and put forward your views. We are interested in what you think is working, what could be improved and how we can communicate with you better.

City officers will be on hand to talk about:

  • Traffic and parking including Clearys Gates Rd - Pedestrian Safety Improvements
  • Parks and Open Space including the Queens Domain Summit Plan, Soldiers Memorial Avenue Management Plan and the draft City to Gardens Way Connectivity and Wayfinding Strategy.
  • Sustainability including information on the City's new FOGO bins
  • General Questions - we can help you log your maintenance jobs
