Greater Hobart Economic Analysis Project

The City of Hobart and surrounding councils commissioned AEC Group to uncover some baseline economic and demographic data to inform strategic decision making at a local government and regional level. A report of the findings has been designed to better understand the economic and social trends of Hobarts’ Local Government Area (LGA), surrounding Council’s and the Greater Hobart area.

This report identifies a range of potential opportunities when it comes to the local economy and the roles recommended for each council. There is a lot of information to read through, including demographics, past economic trends and future potential with regard to key industries, housing, education and employment.

Please look in the document library to view all of the reports.

With the support of the AEC Group Consultancy, the City of Hobart have teamed with Brighton Council, Clarence City Council, Glenorchy City Council and Kingborough Council to create a study of economic gaps and opportunities in each Council area and the region as a whole. The purpose of this study is to inform region wide economic development and collaboration.

We hope to capture the experience and expertise of Tasmanian businesses through a survey which was created specifically for this project. The more surveys that are completed the more accurate the baseline data for the region will be.

We understand that your time is valuable and we are grateful for your responses. This information will be used to inform Council strategies and projects relating to the local economy for a number of years to come.

All information will remain confidential and will not link back to any individuals.
