Hobart Design Guidelines Survey
We want to hear from you
he Hobart Design Guidelines are a new handbook created by the City of Hobart to help designers, developers and the community with design for buildings, streets and public spaces across Hobart.
They’re about making sure new buildings, streets and public spaces reflect what makes Hobart special – our connection to nature, our history, culture, local businesses and each other.
The guidelines are based on design best practice and community input. They aim to protect Hobart’s unique character while helping the city grow in smart, sustainable ways.
Importantly, they don’t introduce any new legal requirements – they’re simply here to guide good design in Hobart and encourage better outcomes for everyone.
The guidelines are built around seven key ‘principles’, with Country as a guiding thread throughout the document. Each principle includes multiple ideas for what we think should be followed if we are going to realise our city’s potential.
The Hobart Design Guidelines haven’t been formally adopted yet – we're sharing them now because we want to hear what you think is important for the future of Hobart’s this city's built environment.
Your feedback will help our project team finalise the draft guidelines.
