Help shape our Open Spaces

The City of Hobart is developing an Open Space Strategy to guide the management of existing open spaces and shape how the City delivers new ones! This plan aims to protect native wildlife and respect cultural and historic areas of significance, while offering Hobart's residents and visitors a wealth or recreation and tourism opportunities.

About our Open Space Strategy

Project Overview

When you think of ‘open space’ in Hobart, what comes to mind?

Here in Hobart, we love our open spaces. With more than 4700 hectares of bushland, parks and reserves, there are many places for activity, contemplation, gathering and play.

Our open spaces are home to an abundance of native wildlife, plants, woodlands, forests and grasslands. They are also places of cultural and heritage significance and provide a wealth of recreation and tourism opportunities.

What is this project about?

After completing our first round of community engagement on open spaces, a draft Open Space Strategy for Hobart has been developed, and we are now inviting feedback on it. Here's how you can have Your Say:

How will your feedback be used?

This strategy will guide the provision and management of existing open spaces and the delivery of new and improved open spaces to meet the needs of Hobart’s residents and visitors, now and into the future.
