What is a green open space?

Green open spaces include a range of different spaces. These cater for a wide range of passive and active recreation and leisure activities. These spaces play an important role in the health and well-being of our community and environment. These include:

    • bushlands and reserves
    • city and urban parks
    • playgrounds
    • skate parks
    • outdoor gyms
    • sportsgrounds
    • foreshores
    • tracks and trails
    • public gardens
    • other landscaped areas

The City of Hobart manage all of these different open spaces. Currently, the City manages over 100 parks and reserves, including 56 playgrounds; 4200 hectares of bushland, including over 250 kilometres of tracks and trails; and 21 sportsgrounds.

How will my feedback be used?

By completing the survey and providing us feedback on what you value about Hobart's green open spaces, you will help ensure that future planning and management of these spaces reflect what our community wants and needs.

If you choose to upload a photo and a story of your favourite open space using our interactive map, you give the City of Hobart permission to publish your photo on our social media pages.
