The $1.2 million plan will rejuvenate the area, bringing the Queens Domain summit back to life for walkers, picnickers, cyclists and dog lovers.
It includes three picnic pavilions that will blend into the natural surroundings, new toilets and improved parking and traffic management. Dog lovers will also be catered for, with dog bowls and taps added to one of the pavilions, keeping people’s pets watered and happy.
The draft plan was approved with amendments – motor club events are considered to be not consistent with the values of the Queens Domain Summit Plan so will not be approved.
It is also noted that the Lower Summit and Twin Reservoirs are beyond the allocated budget restricting the project to the Upper Summit. Other opportunities will be investigated to implement this part of the project.
