Module 4 - Local Area Traffic Management

Survey is now closed. This consultation occurred between July and August 2017.

Local area traffic management covers a wide range of topics associated with the management of the road and transport network - including on street parking and control, pedestrian crossings and school zones. This is an area where the City of Hobart has more substantial powers and can more readily affect change in local communities. Some aspects of local area traffic management are regulated and authorised by the State Government – including speed limits and traffic lights.

The City of Hobart has ownership of the local road network and has delegated and legislative powers to control:

  • Parking including residential parking schemes and yellow lines

  • Traffic calming, such as road humps (with State Government approval)

  • Shopping precinct and streetscape upgrades

The background paper will also discuss including local area traffic management plans and land use planning.

The Local Area Traffic Management background paper is available here.

The engagement period for Local Area Traffic Management is now closed. The results of this consultation are available in the Local Area Traffic Management Outcomes Report.
