Thank you for your participation or interest in this project, we were able to connect with over 700 people and received 169 completed surveys.
Survey data indicates we received more than 80% support for the project although many are hoping that the project unfolds in stages and that this might just be the beginning.
While the survey for this project is now closed, you can read what we heard from you in our Engagement Report for the Uphill bicycle passing on Huon Road, Fern Tree.
Planning work is underway to improve passing opportunities on Huon Road at selected uphill sections between the Skyline Service Station (416 Huon Road) and the Fern Tree Tavern (Summerleas Road junction).
Road shoulders will be sealed at various locations to provide space for slow, uphill bicycle riders, making it easier for motor vehicles to overtake.
Due to the limitations of the location it will not be possible to provide a continuous uphill bicycle lane. Rather, a list of sites have been selected based on their potential to significantly improve safety and comfort for both cyclists and other road users on this stretch of Huon Road within the available budget.
Substantial funding for this project has been provided by the Federal Government and was announced by Independent Federal Member for Clark, Andrew Wilkie MP.
A concept design for the works is now available for comment.
