My connections with the Hobart Town Hall

On the first of March 1968, as a new student at the University of Tasmania, I attended the Fresher’s Dance which was held in the Hobart Town Hall. I danced with the tallest young man in the room, and the only one wearing shorts if memory serves me correctly! Three years later, to the day, we were married. The young man was (the late) Robert Bell who went on to become an Alderman of the City of Hobart, 1988-1992. I don’t think either of us imagined this outcome in 1968!
