Why is the City of Hobart engaging online?
Your Say Hobart is a new tool for the City of Hobart to engage with the community and gather feedback to inform the Council's decision making.
We are refreshing our approach to community engagement and while we will continue to engage using more traditional methods of engagement including face to face information sessions, workshops and forums; Your Say Hobart offers the community an opportunity to participate online.
What are the benefits of engaging online?
Engaging online allows you to have a say in the Council’s decision making process in your own time and comfort:
- You don't have to attend sessions at a set place and time, you can contribute at a time and place that suits you.
- It is a quick, safe and convenient way to have your say on a range of projects, issues and topics.
- It is a great way to keep up to date and contribute your views on issues affecting your community.
- You can see what other community members think about a project, issue or topic, respond with your own views and engage in a discussion.
- It allows for a range of different people, with different views to discuss matters that impact on their community.
Why should I register?

How do I submit my feedback?
Your feedback can be submitted via the online forums, quick polls and surveys relevant to each of the projects currently open for engagement. To participate, simply register and start sharing your ideas and comments.
Alternatively, you can contact the relevant officer responsible. Their contact details are in the For further information section of each project.
What happens to my feedback? Will my views be listened to?
All comments, ideas and suggestions are collated and used by the relevant officer to inform the development of strategies, projects, programs and activities, or to gain an insight into community views and opinions.
Online feedback is used in conjunction with other face-to-face engagement activities such as workshops, meetings, onsite walk and talk sessions, or surveys.
When each engagement closes, all contributions are compiled into a report, which is presented to Council when considering the matter.
A copy of the report will also be posted on Your Say Hobart for reference, removing any identification.
While all feedback provided as part of an engagement is considered in the Council's decision-making process, this does not mean that every suggestion can be taken on board and adopted as proposed.
How is Your Say Hobart moderated?
All moderation is carried out by Bang the Table and is independent of the City of Hobart. The moderators do not edit or alter any comments and will only remove comments deemed to be significantly off topic, offensive or malicious, in which case they are removed from the site immediately.
