Draft Equal Access Commitment
Consultation has concluded
The City of Hobart is committed to building inclusive, strong and healthy communities through the celebration of diversity and participation in community life, by making services, programs and facilities accessible for people of all ages and abilities. This draft Equal Access Commitment outlines key partnerships, focus areas and priority action for 2021–23.
The commitment identifies a range of actions, initiatives and programs that support:
- the fundamental right of all people of Hobart to participate in the life of their community
- community capacity building
- early intervention and prevention of the underlying causes of social exclusion
- improved access to facilities, services, programs, activities, events, information and employment
- the City of Hobart’s practices, policies and procedures to actively build social inclusion
- changes to physical and social environments that improve access and equity and enhance community participation.
The City is now seeking community feedback on the draft Equal Access Commitment. Feedback gathered during this engagement period will be used to consider any changes or amendments to the draft commitments before presenting the final documents to Council in June 2021.
