West Hobart Pedestrian Improvements

The City of Hobart is proposing to improve a series of pedestrian crossing facilities in Hill Street, West Hobart, between Arthur Street and Faraday Street. Project officers would like to hear from people who may live, own a property, go to school, work, shop or operate a business in West Hobart.

The proposal includes crossing improvements at Hamilton, Petty, Allison and Faraday Streets, as well as additional treatments to the central median lane and line marking the traffic lanes.

At the two intersections of Lansdowne Crescent and Hill Street, investigations are underway into improving the pedestrian crossing facilities, including the potential for raised zebra crossings if they can be safely provided.

The proposed works will make it easier for pedestrians to cross the road and may help to reduce the speed of vehicles travelling along Hill Street. The works will also include some landscaping to make the crossings more attractive.
